On November 3rd, Culture Day, I took a leisurely walk to Kagurazaka Street.
To my surprise, I came across the annual “Machitobi Festa” — a huge community art event held every year on this day. It was my first time seeing it in person. ♪
Stretching in one long line from Iidabashi to Kagurazaka Station, a massive roll of paper had been laid out along the street — what an impressive sight!

By the time I arrived, the giant canvas was already filled with colorful drawings.
As I strolled along, I found a small blank spot that looked a bit lonely, so I added my own creation — my recently born New Year’s character, “Umaku Ikusuke.”^^
Only three primary colors — red, blue, and yellow — were provided, but many participants were mixing them freely right on the paper. The result was an endlessly colorful, lively display that brought joy just to look at.
People of all ages, from small children to adults, were participating so casually and happily.
I imagine there must have been quite a crowd!
And everyone’s drawings were so skillful and full of charm. ✨
Perhaps because of the current morning TV drama featuring Anpan, there was an Anpanman every two meters!^^

I also saw many Doraemon and Chiikawa drawings, but I was truly impressed by how easy and fun it is to draw Anpanman.
There were also Mickey Mouse and Hello Kitty, though those seemed to require a bit more finesse.
Anpanman is amazing — anyone can draw him well without feeling intimidated. ✨
As I admired the countless Anpanman drawings made by so many different hands, I found myself deeply moved by the greatness of Takashi Yanase, his creator.
It was an unexpectedly delightful encounter — a perfect event for a sunny autumn holiday and a day that celebrates culture. ♪
