Irina and her daughter participated in a calligraphy workshop for tourists in the summer two years ago.
This time, they contacted us and said, “I’m going to Tokyo tomorrow, so I’d like to take a calligraphy lesson again,” and came to the lesson♪
Last time, we practiced “water” and the basics of brush strokes to create a piece of art, but this time, we will write a piece of art by writing about something that interests us based on the meaning of a word.
This time, for the first time, we will talk about “vagueness” and “yes/nothing.” I feel like these words will forever haunt us as we live in this uncertain world.
Although these characters are quite difficult for people from overseas,
one way to practice is to start with a word that you are interested in,
so we encourage them to have fun while creating their works ^^
It had been a while since they last did calligraphy, but as expected of a mother and daughter who are artists ✨ ^^
Their daughter Valentina instinctively and somehow wrote a piece that evoked the meaning of “existence and non-existence”.
The piece, in which the characters for “yes” and “no” have been repeatedly covered in ink until they are completely black,
seems to me to express part of the Taoist and Zhuangzi philosophies ^^;
I don’t think he’s even thinking about that…
We’ll be holding a second workshop next month
This time, he’ll be attempting even more difficult characters, and I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of work will come out of it ^^/
