Last week, we held a calligraphy experience for overseas customers for the first time in a while.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, summer lessons for visitors to Japan have been cancelled, but now that July has arrived, I feel like things are slowly returning to normal, including experiences for people who have returned to Japan temporarily.
This time, I’m working with Mr. and Mrs. I, an artist living in Germany. ^^
As you’d expect from an artist, they’re quick learners. ✨
I practiced a bit on brush strokes and kanji.
Today, I practiced “20,” “river,” and “water” in stages, and in a short time, I was able to write “water” well, even though it is difficult to get used to the strokes and strokes.
At the end, we let them use the brushes freely and have them try their hand at art calligraphy.
Their daughter also has a good sense of balance, and now that she is free, she continues to produce works.
I started by giving her some examples of simple flowers and dragonflies ^^;
But she didn’t need any of that and was already an artist just like her mom ✨
In the end, it was a mother-daughter collaboration!
They will be coming for another lesson during their stay, so I am looking forward to seeing them create an even more impressive piece next time.
