experience for international guests.
Following on from last year, Irina and her daughter recently visited Japan from Germany. ^^
This was their fourth calligraphy experience.
Irina is also an artist, and occasionally practices calligraphy at home for her creative endeavors.
Her brushwork is quite smooth.

First, we tried out kanji related to their names.
Irina’s was “peaceful.”
Valentina’s was “active.”
“Active” was a bit difficult.^^;
We started by practicing the kanji, then added our creativity to create the finished piece. ✨
When Valentina started using color, her brush moved like a fish in water, expressing “active.”

Irina worked hard at her calligraphy, trying to give form to her image. And so, a beautiful peace was born. 🌈
After completing her favorite piece, “Peace,”
she said she wanted to create a piece using the word “passage.”
So I wrote the character for “michikusa,” inspired by that word.
While it may be a bit off-topic, I advised her that “white space” could represent “a detour in life, a place to stop by.”
Although the meaning may have been slightly different from the original meaning of transit,
I think that even including that seemingly pointless experience, it was a wonderful detour.

If you have another chance to come to Tokyo, please come and take a detour!
