🌞【Summer Calligraphy Experience Report】From Kagurazaka Calligraphy Class 🎐
🖌️ We started by introducing the three types of Japanese characters: hiragana, katakana, and kanji.
Everyone was fascinated by the fact that Japanese uses three different writing systems and asked many questions.
…Though with my limited English, I couldn’t explain everything in detail—but we managed with gestures and smiles!

✍️ Next, we wrote samples of each participant’s name in hiragana and katakana, and had them practice writing.
For those who were interested in kanji, we provided characters inspired by the meanings of their names.
The adults practiced carefully and were able to write characters with an impressive level of completion.
The children tried writing kanji, and perhaps because they saw the characters as shapes,
they were able to write with great balance and creativity.
🖼️ Each person created their own unique and charming characters—some wrote surprisingly beautiful forms right away,
and others created wonderfully expressive shapes precisely because it was their first time.
It was a joy to watch everyone write with such enthusiasm, filling page after page with their work!
At the end, we finished with a clean copy on special paper (shikishi) and took a commemorative photo 📷✨

They mentioned they’ll be visiting Kyoto, Osaka, Ishikawa, and more.
It’s been an extremely hot summer in Japan, but I hope they have a wonderful trip ahead!^^/
